Join us for a day of coiling as we explore how to make a simple basket using pine needles!
Kaili, who taught the nettle cordage and cedar bark basketry classes last fall is well organized and very clear – with her patient and detailed ways, learning new crafts is very accessible.
This class is limited to 6 people to be sure each get plenty of assistance.
There will be a selection of bases (centers) to select from. You will then learn the tecnique of coiling using artifical sinew in a “plain stitch”. After coiling your way out and up, the top edge will be finished with a strong and attractive border stitch.
The cost of this class covers all the pine needles you will need to complete your project, artificial sinew (in a variety of colors), one center, and a yummy lunch, beverages and homemade pie.
This class is meant for beginners and will provide you with solid skills you can apply to the intermediate classes Kaili will be offering this fall.
