Learn to bake springerle cookies with Tekla Cunningham, violinist and director of the Whidbey Island Music Festival and a passionate home baker. Springerle are made from an anise scented dough that is pressed into carved molds. Because springerle must be dried overnight before baking, you will take your pressed cookies home to rest overnight and bake at home. Together we will bake cookies that were pressed the day before so you will also take home freshly baked springerle. We will also make and bake a molded gingerbread cookie (does not need to rest overnight).

As you learn to make the cookies, you’ll also learn the history and practice of this delicious and elegant cookie – wonderful to eat, impressive as a gift, gorgeous and festive as a holiday decoration!
