I am offering a fun class, just in time for you to make some unique decorations for your home.

A great way to have play with your kids or grandkids by creating something folks of many ages can enjoy making.

Based loosely on an old hispanic tradition, ramillettes were made to decorate, in lieu of fresh flowers which were in short supply in the arid southwest.

Using decorative paper, wrapping paper, paper bags, images from labels, magazines or even paper you’ve painted, there is hardly a limit to the selecion of paper you can use.

I will show slides of many different pieces I’ve done over the past 14 years –  some are greeting cards, some are attached to ribbons creating a wall hanging. Hopefully you’ll get inspiration for making your own pieces.

All images above are Ramillettes applied to cards and sewn on.

This is a great low cost craft which has endless possibilities.

What you need to have on hand:

Colored paper &/or patterned paper

Sharp Scissors

Pinking Scissors or other decorative edge scissors ( these are optional but increase the diversity )

Templates for drawing circles of at least 4 different sizes( these can be can lids or any other circular shape you can draw around.

Pencil

Needle and thread

Pushpins – 3

Glue

This photo shows a few kinds of scissors – the brown handles are pinking shears which I use a lot – making little zigzags. You can also get a pack of decorative edge scissors which the yellow handle ones are. They are poorly made but will work for awhile then probably need some epoxy to fix.

The circular green template is handy if you end up doing this going forward. Until then you can use things like canning lid rings, tops to food items etc – anything to get various size evenly round circles.

Ramillette done with 12 layers of paper sewn togehter.

Ramillette applied to a ribbon – this is part of a 7 medallion piece about 40″ long

This is a super fun craft and can be as simple or complex as you desire – endless possiblities for very little output of cash.

I will be offering more advanced classes after we start with this intro class which will include using crepe paper sewn to be three dimensional – but first the basics to get you started!

Let’s get together safely and have fun!!
