June Newsletter

LOTS of space for parking and having all the artists with their booths for the August Outdoor Summer Art and Craft Market. This field will be for parking.

Greetings all – almost the end of June and we are EXCITED to be able to say we are going to proceed with our Outdoor Summer Art & Craft Market held August 22 & 23!!

Saturday August 22 – 10 am – 4 pm
Sunday August 23 – 10 am – 2 pm

We have been waiting to see how things progress with the viris . At this time, with Farmers markets reopened, we think we are save to hold our market as well. There is plenty of space for vendors to be set up at a good distance so we all feel safe.

We have added a second day to our market this year as it was so popular last year plus we shortened the hours for vendors so it gives more folks a chance to come see and enjoy!!

Most vendors are still going to participate and are looking forward to it, especially since so many earlier events have been canceled.

I’m not scheduling any new classes until it feels ok to have more people in a confined space, but with the Summer Market we will all be outside anyway with masks and handsanitizer ready for use.

Verbascum olympicum is one of the stately perennials that will greet you as you approach the pathways into the vending area – such happy open yellow faces!

Clematis ‘Romantika’ is bursting with bloom on the wire fence around my roses and other cutting flowers. I think she’ll still be in bloom then – at least I hope so – this is her first year so not sure on the timing.

Cistus Elma under a gazebo at Shirley Collins garden – such a restful spot to observe the pond and have some tea with an avid gardener.

Love the view up through the gazebo at Shirleys house.

This spring Shirley and I redid this front and center part of her garden – she sees this everytime she opens the front door. We got matching dwarf boxwood and repeated the shape on each side of a terrace she had newly resurfaced with pennsylvania bluestone – a huge improvement over the concrete pavers that were there. Refined beauty. Itoh peonies are inside the boxwood square.

Our native Holodiscus discolor – or Ocean Spray – is starting to bloom now. My favorite part of the process is when it’s still tight little buds – like tiny pearls.

What a great comman name since it eventually looks frothy when the flowers are completely open.

Seaweed creatures – like laying on your back and tracking the clouds overhead seeing what images they bring up, looking at the seaweed on the beach is similar to me. I liked this fat fish with elegant long fins of green, he even has an eye on the left side. What wonders kelp turns into.

Back of shirt with map of Olympic National Park – for sale at our Summer Art & Craft Market. Size 12-14

Front of shirt with Olympic Park map on the back – the green is really the color in the first photo. Linen and cotton all prewashed. So comfortable.

Back of a Japanese shift dress with yuzu lemon tenugui down the back. Front of the dress has patch pockets and boro stitching around the neck, sleeves and pocket details. All cotton prewashed and dried for easy care. Look for it and other tops and dresses at the Summer Market.

I do hope we will see many of you at this upcoming market I can guarantee and nice selection from ceramics, woodwork, baskets, jewelry, handmade soaps with devine scents, handprinted dishtowels, cards,  tote bags, flower essences,  handspun yarn, handknits, yummy food ( Seattle baker of renown), and more….

And yes I’m still designing gardens, offering garden consultations and doing pruning if you are in need of any of those services.

Stay safe and sane until we see you!
