Description

Mushroom species are mystically diverse, offering a wonder of shapes, colors, and textures to spark the visual imagination. Join us as we explore our creative potential. Debbie will present appliqué and embroidery to stitch an original magic mushroom patch.

We’ll learn basic embroidery stitches and a simple appliqué technique. A wide selection of fabric and embroidery thread will be available, as well as pattern pieces and sewing notions.

You can choose which mushroom pattern you want to work on and change the colors and fabrics as you desire.

Debbie will bring books on mushrooms, nature and stitching history if you wish to explore future possibilities.

These delightful little patches can be applied to clothing or added to other sewing projects you might have in the works!

Learn more about Debbie

Debbie Dierkes originally learned embroidery during grade seven home economics class in 1969. Later in high school, together with her group of four girlfriends, she explored stitching album covers, logos and art deco on Levi shirts.

Debbie was a dedicated art student for three years of college and continues to explore and appreciate the incredible diversity of creators and their art.

In 2012, she began a daily morning embroidery practice to find her way back into her creativity and art making. Examples of her work can be found on her Instagram account @finasoleil.
