You bring a PIE PLATE – glass or ceramic preferred.
It’s time to get ready for some successful fall baking – from apple to pumpkin to pear – pies are the epitome of giving the gift of love and good wishes. It just makes people happy to be served pie! Which is why I offer pie at all my classes.
I’m happy to share my old family recipe and little tricks I’ve picked up in my 55 years of pie making. A recipe handed down from my mom and a ranching aunt in Colorado, who always had to have really good grub for the ranch hands.
We’ll gather in my kitchen / living room / sunporch to create your apple pie – spiced or seasoned as you decide. You’ll take your pie home to bake.
I’ll demonstrate making a gluten free crust and the vagaries of how to handle them verses a gluten crust.
You’ll get a hand out with recipes for both crusts and filling combination ideas.
Get your pie skills on – you’re bound to know a neighbor or sick friend that could use some old fashioned care.
I’ve taught my son Andrew, in the photo above, as well as grandchildren and nieces. If they can you can.
